One Eye-Opening Growth Story: My Internship at JurisTech From Exam Papers to Marketing Content Just days before starting my two-week internship at JurisTech, I found myself buried in revision notes and textbooks, preparing intensely for my internal mid-year examinations. As a 16-year-old gearing up for my IGCSEs, the shift from structured routines of exams to the dynamic world of fintech marketing was eye-opening to say the least. What Happened on Day One My internship officially began with JurisTech’s welcoming NewHOPe orientation programme. It casually began with some ice-breaking activities, helping me to connect with other newcomers quickly. Following an office tour, where I familiarised myself with the modern workspace and got my facial-recognition entry set up. Simultaneously, we received a work laptop. The HR team patiently guided us through the setup process, installing essential apps and organising our logins, ensuring we were all set to hit the ground running. As a delightful surprise, I was also handed a thoughtful welcome gift, which made me feel valued and warmly welcomed from the outset. Though my time with NewHOPe on that first day was brief, I did get to meet some friendly faces from HR who warmly introduced us to the company’s vibrant culture. It’s known internally by the core values GECO—Growing heroes, Excellence as a habit, Customer first and Opening up. Shortly afterwards, the HR team introduced me to a member of the marketing team who was in the office that day. After receiving a warm and friendly welcome, I soon found myself diving into small activities, starting with some introductory writing and design activities. Additionally, I was provided with some helpful learning materials focused on B2B marketing—a YouTube video and a few PDF documents—to familiarise myself with the subject. After reviewing these resources, I had the chance to share my insights, which helped reinforce my understanding. Real Responsibilities from Day Two On the second day, most of the Marketing and Communications Team were there. We conducted a rather special stand-up where I was warmly greeted by them. We went straight to introductions and ice-breaking activities. Interestingly—and here’s a fun fact—everyone I got to know in the team had pet(s)! For most of the day, I received detailed onboarding on creating Insight articles and social media content tailored for platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook. Throughout the first week, I immediately started producing genuine content—GECO quote posts, articles, Instagram stories, and even a LinkedIn recruitment post. The tasks I was given weren’t just exercises or shadowing opportunities; they were real assignments, allowing me to actively contribute and see firsthand how my work influenced JurisTech’s online presence. Design Discoveries and Deadline Dynamics One of the first genuine challenges I encountered was during my design work, particularly with GECO quote posts. Making sure the text stood out clearly against the background proved surprisingly tricky. Finding the right contrast and colour combination to keep things readable, professional, and visually appealing required quite a bit of experimentation. Thankfully, the regular and constructive feedback from my team members was invaluable, helping me pinpoint improvements swiftly and guiding me towards better design solutions. Another thrilling challenge was adapting to fast-paced deadlines and brand guidelines. Unlike the predictable structure of school assignments, professional tasks often require rapid turnarounds. Initially daunting, these quick cycles became exhilarating opportunities to test myself. The friendly yet constructive feedback sessions with the team helped me swiftly transform from uncertain to self-assured, visibly improving my work within just days. If you’re someone who thrives in dynamic environments and values growth, JurisTech’s internship is definitely an eye-opening journey worth embarking on. How a Small Team Became My Growth Catalyst Although my internship at JurisTech lasted only two weeks, the collaborative culture within the MaC team quickly became one of my favourite aspects. Each morning started with a stand-up—a short, structured yet relaxed daily meeting. I immediately noticed that the team took the time to genuinely ask one another how they were feeling, a simple gesture that underscored JurisTech’s commitment to fostering a supportive and healthy work environment. These stand-ups went beyond just discussing tasks; they were a space for open dialogue, guidance, and continuous encouragement. Whenever I faced a challenge, whether it was designing visuals with better readability or meeting tight content deadlines, the team proactively offered practical tips and positive reinforcement. This approachable environment allowed me to comfortably ask questions and seek advice, greatly accelerating my learning curve. Even within this brief period, I felt deeply included, valued, and supported, turning potentially intimidating professional experiences into meaningful opportunities for growth. It was a clear demonstration of how a small team could have a tremendously positive impact on an intern’s confidence and professional development. Real Impact in Just Two Weeks Even though my internship was only two weeks long, the depth of real-world learning I experienced significantly reshaped my perspective on marketing, teamwork, and personal growth. Accelerated exposure to fintech concepts, hands-on ownership of genuine tasks, and the steady improvement of my soft skills—such as communication, adaptability, and confidence—were invaluable takeaways. To anyone considering an internship, let my experience reassure you: even a short stint at JurisTech can be genuinely transformative. I wholeheartedly encourage fellow students seeking practical experience and meaningful growth opportunities to apply. You may be surprised at how much you can learn—and grow—in just two weeks.
