On the 6th April 2023, JurisTech had the opportunity to visit Multimedia University to offer an introduction to the company, alongside valuable insights on the Fintech industry. Sheryl Chong, JurisTech’s HR manager, extended a warm welcome to the group of 20+ students who came from various academic backgrounds at the university, all eager to explore their future fintech careers.

Sheryl began the talk with an ice-breaking session to get the students excited and engaged. Following that, she provided an overview of JurisTech’s background and history, emphasising how the company has grown rapidly over the past two decades. Sheryl highlighted the crucial role played by the company’s founders, CEO See Wai Hun and CTO John Lim, who established JurisTech in 1997. Sheryl then shared the many awards and milestones that JurisTech has achieved, cementing the company’s emergence as one of Malaysia’s top Fintech companies on the global stage.

In addition, Sheryl discussed how JurisTech has been at the forefront of developing transformative software solutions for banks and financial players. These solutions have set the trend for innovative and fresh approaches to banking and financial services, enabling consumers to use financial products in exciting and innovative ways. Today, JurisTech is a major provider offering a diverse range of top-quality software solutions to banks and financial institutions with a global presence in ten countries.

Sheryl touched on JurisTech’s digital onboarding platform’s capabilities in facilitating seamless customer onboarding, allowing banks to make quick decisions. Furthermore, she explained how JurisTech’s explainable automated AI and ML platform empowers business users to become citizen data scientists. She also elaborated on JurisTech’s end-to-end loan origination platform, which streamlines and automates financial institutions’ entire loan origination process.

Following that, Sheryl discussed JurisTech’s work culture, which is centred on four core values: Growing Heroes, Making Excellence Happen, Customer First, and Opening Up, also known as our GECO values. These values are deeply ingrained in the company’s philosophy and reflect the dedication of its employees to fostering positive relationships with all stakeholders, resulting in increased productivity and inclusivity in the workplace.

In addition to promoting teamwork and collaboration, JurisTech places a strong emphasis on work-life balance. Employees can take advantage of various office amenities, such as our coffee bar, the ‘Heroes Corner’ where our employees can rest and recharge, and an entertainment zone with games such as pool, foosball, and table tennis. The company also offers flexible working hours, allowing employees to arrive at the office any time between 7 am to 11 am, while still maintaining a 9-hour workday.

Moving on, Sheryl provided insights into the inner workings of JurisTech and explained how software development is divided into two segments: front-end and back-end development. She went on to elaborate on how JurisTech’s CTO, John Lim, developed a middle component that links both ends together, which uses SQL and PHP to manage various workflows and designs.

Sheryl further explored the exciting career prospects that JurisTech offers to software engineers and business analysts. She emphasised the adaptability of software engineers who can create both client and server software, while constantly improving their expertise and design skills in diverse areas such as front-end, back-end, and databases, all of which lead to creating software that adds value to customers.
