We’re excited to introduce Aaron Abinson, who started his journey at JurisTech as a Junior Software Engineer, focusing not only on coding, but also on designing and developing complex systems. He is now our Head of the Mobile Application Technology Advocate (MANTA) team, as he oversees the development of JurisTech’s mobile applications. 

We sat down with Aaron to gain insights into what drives his passion for programming, the invaluable lessons he has learned as a software engineer at JurisTech, and what makes working here truly special.

What makes programming enjoyable or meaningful to you?

Aaron: I think I’m mostly in love with the process of designing and problem-solving more than the coding itself, and I try my hardest to design a software that would hopefully outlive me and help people even beyond my time. I think that’s quite meaningful.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned from being a software engineer at JurisTech?

Aaron: The vast majority of my knowledge as a software engineer has come from working in JurisTech, rather than from my university studies. If I had to choose one lesson, it’s the importance of a collaborative culture. It can be quite difficult at first to overcome the need for individual success, but it’s an entirely different dynamic when a whole team is bouncing off ideas, as compared to silently juggling ideas in my head.

What aspects of JurisTech’s work environment make it a great place for programmers?

Aaron: I like that it’s not a cubicle setup, and you pretty much have access to everyone. It complements the collaborative culture.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career as a software engineer at JurisTech?

Aaron: Don’t be afraid to voice out your thoughts. I’ve found some of the best ideas sometimes come from juniors. Also, don’t say no to hanging out with your teammates, because building close relationships with your team is going to help you in the long run.
