On 25 October, JurisTech was warmly invited to participate in the Malaysia Digital Xceleration (MDX) Summit 2024, held at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur. Organised by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in partnership with Synapze, the summit aimed to reshape Malaysia’s digital landscape by showcasing next-generation technologies in five transformative pillars: Data Trust, Next-Gen Computing, Computer Vision, Metaverse, and Digital Twins. 

Hosein Abedinpourshotorban, JurisTech’s Chief Innovation Officer (CINO), participated in a roundtable discussion titled “Accelerating the Future: The Power of Collaboration in Next-Gen Technology.” This roundtable convened a dynamic mix of trailblazing C-level executives, influential leaders from industry associations, chambers of commerce, powerful women in tech, and forward-thinking academics, focusing primarily on next-gen technologies like AI, quantum technology, GPU processing, and more.

Moderated by Ir. Wan Murdani Wan Mohamad, MDEC’s Head of Digital Industry Acceleration, and Christine Gadsby, CISO of BlackBerry Cybersecurity, the discussion explored bold collaborative opportunities and addressed pressing challenges related to funding, infrastructure, talent shortages, regulatory frameworks, and ecosystem readiness. The goal was to spark new ideas and chart a clear path forward, ensuring Malaysia remains competitive in the global tech race.

During the roundtable, Hosein shared key insights on the future of Malaysia’s digital landscape, beginning with the importance of talent readiness. While recognising the essential role that universities play in shaping future professionals, he highlighted the need for improved alignment between academic programmes and industry requirements. Extending internship opportunities to six months or even a year would provide students with invaluable real-world experience, equipping them with the necessary skills to thrive in a dynamic tech environment.

Hosein also addressed the regulatory landscape and its impact on the adoption of advanced technologies, such as AI and cloud solutions. He noted that many Malaysian companies are well-prepared to leverage these cutting-edge technologies; however, certain regulatory requirements, particularly regarding data residency, can present challenges. By creating more flexible regulations concerning data storage and attracting major cloud service providers, Malaysia could unlock significant opportunities for innovation and maintain its competitive edge in the global digital arena.

Furthermore, Hosein emphasised the importance of attracting international talent to enhance Malaysia’s technological capabilities. By fostering a welcoming environment for foreign experts, Malaysia can position itself as a leader in digital transformation. Encouraging collaboration with global talent not only enriches the local ecosystem but also significantly contributes to economic growth.
