On 29 July 2025, JurisTech CEO and co-founder See Wai Hun took the stage at AWS Unicorn Day Malaysia for a compelling panel discussion titled “Beyond Launch: How to Turn Early Traction into Real Growth.” Held at the Connexion Conference in Bangsar South, the event gathered over 900 founders, investors, and technology enthusiasts eager to learn from those who have successfully scaled their ventures.

See Wai Hun joined fellow entrepreneurs Khalil Nooh of Mesolitica and Gerardo Salandra of respond.io. The session was moderated by Sunderaj Nagalingam, founder of Binacap. Together, they explored what it really takes to build a sustainable business after the initial phase of traction.

Wai Hun shared the story of how JurisTech began during the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997. What started as a solution for legal and debt recovery needs eventually grew into a full suite of lending and recovery software solutions. Rather than beginning with a grand vision, the company focused on responding to real opportunities in the market. According to Wai Hun, one of the most important questions entrepreneurs must keep asking is, “What’s next?”

That mindset helped JurisTech grow both in depth and breadth. This growth was fuelled by creating adjacencies in both products and customer segments. As aforementioned, JurisTech evolved its offerings step by step, moving from legal and recovery systems to collections and eventually origination platforms. On the customer side, the company expanded progressively, first working with cooperative banks before moving into development financial institutions, commercial and Islamic banks, leasing companies, automotive financiers, non-bank lenders, and digital banks. This strategy of going deeper within existing clients while also broadening into new customer segments allowed JurisTech to stay relevant within Malaysia’s limited financial sector by offering a comprehensive range of solutions tailored to each market need.

When asked whether early success ever led the company in the wrong direction, Wai Hun explained that the biggest challenge was in accurately assessing market size. The team had to move beyond surface-level indicators like the number of law firms, and instead evaluate how many were truly serving financial institutions. This insight led to a strategic pivot toward a new market segment and helped JurisTech unlock its next phase of growth.

The discussion then moved to metrics. Wai Hun stressed that profitability, not just revenue, was key to sustainable growth. She also emphasised the importance of creating long-term value for customers through solutions that encourage ongoing engagement and lasting partnerships, enabling steady and sustainable growth over time. This approach goes hand in hand with JurisTech’s focus on continuous product innovation, ensuring that clients always have access to evolving solutions that meet their future needs. Equally important is product delivery. In enterprise software, failure to deliver can damage a company’s reputation permanently.

In balancing short-term success with long-term innovation, Wai Hun referenced the concept of the innovator’s dilemma. She explained how listening only to current customers can hinder future potential. To manage this, JurisTech established a Centre of Excellence dedicated to research and development. Products from this unit are measured differently, focusing on long-term value creation rather than immediate profitability.

The session concluded with Wai Hun outlining how JurisTech transitioned from founder-led sales to a scalable commercial engine by establishing dedicated sales, presales, and marketing units, all supported by strong investment in CRM systems to ensure consistent growth. With a Sales Planning and Development unit now in place and a partner management function on the horizon, JurisTech is positioning itself for wider market expansion and paving the way for global growth opportunities.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to AWS and Endeavor for the kind invitation to speak at Unicorn Day Malaysia. It was a great honour to be part of such a forward-thinking event, and to share the stage with other inspiring founders and leaders. Events like these are vital for building a stronger, more collaborative ecosystem for tech innovation in the region.

The panel was well received and sparked thoughtful discussion among attendees. It offered a rare glimpse into the real decisions behind JurisTech’s growth journey. As the company continues to lead in the financial technology space, its story stands as a testament to purposeful growth, strategic pivots, and the value of asking the right questions at every stage.
